Lines into Planes

Concrete and Plywood

Designed and fabricated by Jordan Maddox + Noah Scheinman

Concrete reception desk designed and built for OCADU student gallery. Experimenting through hand-sketching, and later with 3-D modeling software, we began to develop a language of rough geometric abstraction with associations to furniture, lighting and architecture. These explorations led to the design of this concrete desk. By using a CNC mill and its high degree of precision we were able to cut multiple stripes of offset angles. This made up the formwork for the desks front elevation manifesting our underlying concept of lines into planes.
